The Excavation of Bolingbroke Castle 1965-67 and 1973

Thoroughly slighted by the Parliamentarians, Bolingbroke Castle had pretty much disappeared from view by 1960. From 1965, the Dept of Public Buildings and Works mounted a four-year campaign to excavate and consolidate the castle and make it a visitable ancient monument.

David will present the story of Bolingbroke Castle, with original photographs of the excavations.
